Essence in the machine…

I’d like to welcome you Into the Machine.

If you’re here, you either know me, you think you know me, you want to know me, or you’re just really bored and you’re killin time. Whatever the reason, welcome – I hope you enjoy the site.

So I guess some explanation is in order. I’m not going to write an autobiography here. Nor will I opine endlessly over wordy, depressing prose. I am equally averted against sugar coating my posts, creating candy pop fantasy garbage that will rot your teeth before you’re past the first few lines. This site I intend to be a whirring, spinning contraption of curiosities and cantankerous creation. At times a tuned, humming mill of precision and masterwork. At other times a shaking, pieced together mash of barely compatible, somehow functional collection of spare parts and scrap metal. Whatever the results, I hope they’ll be insightful, entertaining, and that they’ll carry with them at least some nobility.

I’d also like to take a few moments to talk about the title of this site. Chances are, you’ve taken a guess at what I’m referring to by titling the site “Into the Machine”. Whatever your assumption is, you might be right… because there’s several references to be made here…

Life is a complicated machine. Full of gears and chains, pulleys, magnets, wires, cables, stops, guides, rails, and channels. This site serves as a small access hatch into my particular machine.

I love technology. Hardware of all sorts fascinates me. This is where my love for science fiction initially took hold. While my friends watching Star Trek were waiting to see what alien race Captain Kirk or Captain Picard would have to deal with next, I was waiting to see what quick thinking modification the crew would have to make to get through the latest crisis. Han Solo is my homeboy… I guess then that you could say I’m into the machines.

“Welcome to the machine” by Pink Floyd is one of my favorite tunes.

There are a few more reasons, but I’ll write about those later.

I need to have something left to keep you reading, right?

Enjoy…   ;)
